Last Weekend

Little one was not feeling so well over the weekend. He didn’t really sleep well and somehow, managed to sleep on his side by morning. Guess he felt more comfortable sleeping that way.

Nevertheless, decided to take him out on Sunday afternoon for a little bit of fresh air. Okay, fine, not so much fresh air as we were indoor most of the time. Haha. Went to Shabby to finally make use of my birthday discount. Tried to tell the husband that the spending is well-justified :D They will be used to scrap Baby AH’s pictures, bah :)

p1030633r.jpg

Also managed to alter a picture frame earlier in the day. It is for a colleague who left for another ministry today.

p1030634r.jpg

Did a stock take on my EBMs and realised i’m still short of at least 25 more 4ozs. I should have about 95 4ozs in stock already and insya Allah, that should be enough for Baby AH to feed on when I’m away.

p1030638r.jpg

Trying to prepare my EBMs made me breastpump worked extra hard! Hehe. Few times the diaphragm squeaked whilst pumping. This encouraged me to start looking for an electric pump. Not only my hands were numb from working overtime (lol!), I was a tad bit worried that my pump decided to stop working on me (although I could not find any online evidence on an Avent Manual Pump stopped working).

On top of that, today I was talking to my colleague who gave birth to a baby boy 2 months before Baby AH. She has started giving her baby formula 2-3 months ago and she said that her baby went through 3 tins a month at $17 a tin! That is about $51 a month and $612 a year! ERK! I didn’t realise formula could be THAT expensive- and I thought purchasing an electric pump was expensive!

So tonight, I have purchased (obviously with the husband’s blessings. haha.) a Medela Pump In Style Advanced (PISA). I hope, insya Allah, this can help extend my breastfeeding time. Plus, it should at least cover the cost of purchasing it relative to purchasing formula (kidding! haha!). Oh, but it should definitely cut down the time I spent expressing AND less numb hands, insya Allah :D

I will try and write a review on it once it arrives, insya Allah. . I do hope it arrives before I leave :|

Anyhoos, that’s all for now. I do apologise for not replying the comments yet. Even this post took me 2 days before I managed to finish it (a lot of editing!). Hehe.
Have a good week ahead y’all!

Mummy’s Knackered

March 29, 2008 at 7:47 pm | In AH's mummy, baby AH, travelling, working mother | Leave a Comment

I am knackered to the bone. My to-do list is LONG- both work and personal to-do list! Sigh.

Am glad the boss is going away for a meeting as this gives me some breathing space to complete all work in hand without being given new work- for at least next week anyway. However, J has also gone with him, which left me to man the unit alone- uwaaaaa! I guess I can’t really complain as I, too, will be going away and leaving J alone for 2 weeks- sorry J!

I have sooo many things to do but I guess, I need to start with renewing my passport (I know! Har har!) and making Baby AH’s passport. Then, I need to make new suits because my old suits are a bit tight around the *ehem*ehem*. Then there’s preparing Baby AH’s things to bring (Mummy can just buy things, which she forgot to bring for herself. Haha.). I also need to go back to the forum and decide which cooler box to buy and bring.

Argh. I don’t even want to start with my work-to-do list.

I am certainly looking forward to finally use up my 20% discount at Shabby. Yaaaay!

p.s. I am not making sense, ya? I need sleeeeeeeeeeeeep!

Baby AH’s Day Out

March 27, 2008 at 5:55 am | In baby AH, breastfeeding, travelling | 6 Comments

We finally took Baby AH out on Sunday and because it was the pay weekend, we thought Manggis Mall would be the ideal place as also we wanted to look for a baby front carrier.

Baby AH was behaving well (whilst mummy regretted not bringing his stroller) until we were at Mothercare and tried to put him in the front carrier. Haha. He definitely showed off his vocal skills then! To calm him down, I asked if I could use their fitting room to breastfeed as I didn’t want to walk out of the place with him crying. However, even after feeding him for about 10 minutes or so (with the husband, sister and brother) patiently waiting for me outside the fitting room, he continued to cry. The husband and I both took turns in trying to calm him down but he just refused and continued to cry. Unsure what he wanted, we just walked out of the shop with the intention to just go home, when he stopped crying completely!

I, then, wonder if he was annoyed that we were in there with no intentions to buy him anything and then the thought of leaving the shop was to get him something from another shop. Haha.

The kids then said they were hungry so we tried Sugarbun but they had a birthday party going on with loud music- didn’t think Baby AH would enjoy it. So we went to HuaHo’s foodcourt instead where Baby AH then ogled over the next table soto!

You know how people always ask whether your baby is a boy or a girl (I sometime do that if it is not obvious), right? I had Baby AH wear a bodysuit that said ‘In case you are wondering, I am a BOY.’ Despite that, people still asked if he was a boy or a girl! Har har. I guess they are just being polite instead of asking how much my baby weighs, ya. Afterall, these are strangers who we have never met before.

I guess from seeing all the food, Baby AH though it was a good time for him to digest his system and did his business right there and then! I quickly went back to the car and brought the diaper bag to change him- time to try HuaHo’s breastfeeding/ changing room!

I didn’t check the 2nd floor but the breastfeeding/ changing room is available on the 1st floor and basement. We couldn’t find it on Ground Floor though.

p1030482r.jpg

My take on it as a changing room (as I used mothercare’s fitting room to bf my baby) are:

- the cleaning scent was overwhelming (read: TOO STRONG!)

- there were no hot water

- the lock didn’t work

however,

- it was spacious enough

- the changing mat (or more like small mattress with pvc (i think!) cover) was big enough

- they had a chair for breastfeeding

- it was clean, although the person before me was irresponsible and didn’t throw her wet wipes and tissue (ada marks lagitu!)

That’s all I can think of at the moment. Perhaps mid-April, I can try and take baby AH to the mall and test their breastfeeding/ changing room next :)

p.s. Happy 4 months old, mummy’s handsome boy!

Nursing Pillow

March 26, 2008 at 7:05 am | In baby products | 9 Comments

If anyone is looking for a cheaper alternative to Mothercare’s Nursing Pillow, I saw that Hua Ho Manggis has 2 sets left on Sunday. The brand is Lucky Baby (I think!) and it should cost around $60++

:)

Co-sleeping and Cot sleeping.

March 23, 2008 at 11:58 am | In AH's mummy, baby AH, baby products, breastfeeding, development, sleeping, working mother | Leave a Comment

The little one is putting everything in his mouth! Erk.

I started noticing it the other day when he pinched my hand and brought it up to his mouth. Then last night, during dinner, he put his hand in his mouth and his hand was wet with his saliva. This morning during breakfast, I put him in his stroller, placing the stroller next to my chair. I handed him his toy and the next thing we knew, he had it in his mouth. LOL. When we took the toy away from him he put his hand in his mouth instead! Haha.

Before Baby AH was born, I said to myself that he shall be a cot sleeping baby and never a co-sleeping baby. I was pretty adamant at making sure that will happen even after talking to my friends who kept on saying that co-sleeping is the best. During confinement and before I started working, we worked hard in making sure that Baby AH sleeps in his cot. I would feed him sitting down in the middle of the night and then put him back to his cot when he was asleep- unless he was fussy, in which he would sleep on me.

When I started working, I realised that the time from when I came home to the time we sleep were not enough. I wanted Baby AH to be next to me at all times! I, then, slowly tried feeding him whilst lying down. Baby AH was also then big enough to scream and bring the house down if he was uncomfortable. Also, I needed the sleep. Haha. So, whilst baby AH was feeding with his eyes close, mummy had her eyes close too. Huhuhuhu.

Now, I am paying the price. Har har har. Baby AH is slowly refusing to sleep in his cot. When both of us had fall asleep, the husband would carry him and move him to his cot. At times, Baby AH would wake up and cry. Other times, he would continue to sleep until his next feed. Currently, as I feed him to sleep, I would have his pillow with me and then when he has been moved back to his cot, I would put his pillow back in the cot. I read this somewhere so, I’m hoping it will work in trying to get him back to his cot.

Oh, after his feed, I am usually too lazy to move him back to his cot so he would usually end up sleeping with me until I have to wake up for work. Hehehehehehe.

p.s. I think the Milkmaid Tea is working. Yesterday at work, I managed to increase my EBM. Before fenugreek supplements, I could only express 12 oz from 2 sessions whilst at work. After taking the supplements, it increased to 16 – 18oz. Yesterday, Alhamdullilah, I was able to express 20-21oz whilst I was at work :) Hmm, definitely a moo-moo! Haha. Am still looking at getting an electric pump. Hehe. Sangal tangan.

Have a good Sunday y’all!

Baby AH’s Mandi Berlawat

March 22, 2008 at 6:37 am | In baby AH, mandi berlawat | 5 Comments

Alhamdullilah, the event went well. Thanks to family and friends for making sure everything went smoothly.

I managed to put the little one to sleep earlier during the day for about 2 hours. However, just before the event started he became a little bit fussy and was crying now and then- he needed his nap again! I was thinking that if I let him nap, when the time for him to come out, he would make a big fuss and bring the house down.

This was what he looked liked at first.

dsc_0032.jpg

Then he fell asleep 5 minutes into it, despite the loud zikir.

dsc_0038.jpg

And was still asleep when we took outside, despite the loud zikir, the humidity AND lots & lots of people squealing and touching him.

My little Hang Tuah- apparently Chinese version. LOL

p.s. Iring Boy & Mama Ren- Ahmad Haris wished you were back in Brunei for it. btw, Iring Boy, Ahmad Haris will see you next month, insya Allah :) :)

Rolling Over

March 16, 2008 at 8:53 am | In baby AH, baby products, breastfeeding, development, travelling, working mother | 7 Comments

He did it again today! And this time to his right. Hehe.

Baby AH was lying on his tummy on our bed earlier this evening, when he rolled over to his right. I love seeing his face when he had rolled over. This is like my second time witnessing it. Although, he has once rolled over when he was using the nursing pillow for his tummy time, I was told that it could be accidental because he didn’t roll over for a long, long time after that.

Poor mummy being excited. Rupanya bukan.

Anyhoos, although he has not done a complete roll over yet, seeing the look on his face when he was lying on his back was enough to send me over the moon. LOL. I am going to be one of the mothers who can’t stop talking about every little achievement her baby has done, yeah? Har har har.

To be honest, as much as I loooove to see and talk about baby AH’s development, I am actually reluctant to blog about it because I don’t want my baby to be compared to other babies. There will definitely be 2 ways about it- one, ‘ooooo.. pandai sudah anak mu ah, anak si anu alum pandai…’ or ‘eh, baru ya pandai? anak si anu lama sudah pandai…’ Either way, it’s not good for the baby nor it’s good for the mummy’s ego! LOL.

I will try to keep it at a minimal, lah. More to share with my cousins abroad on what baby AH has been up to, especially my brothers who like to ask for his recent pictures or what baby AH have been up to.

Baby AH had his 3 months shot recently. His irresponsible mother *cough* missed his appointment by a week. Hehe. Anyways, Baby AH was having a great time looking around at the clinic and when I blocked his view (awu, penyaya mummynya ani), he cried. Haha. And when it was his turn to get his shot, he cried when we took him to the room. So, what the husband did was faced him to the door so he could see the people waiting outside.

At one point, whilst waiting, he even smiled at a lady with her baby girl! I do hope it was just him being friendly and not hitting on the baby girl! LOL.

On a different note, I now have to travel earlier than planned, which would mean that I will be out of the office for 2 weeks and also, will not be seeing my baby for that long. Erk. I am actually thinking of taking him with me for the first trip as I don’t think I can survive not seeing him for 2 weeks. If you have read my earlier posts, I have planned out my baby’s EBM needs, which now has to be re-planned. Looks like instead of extra 2 bottles, I will now express another extra bottle (hence, 3 extra bottles) to make sure Baby AH’s feeding needs is met when I’m away.

This is what my mornings have looked like after subuh prayers

p1030309r.jpg

Of course, there are days when I can only managed 2 bottles, like today because baby was screaming to be fed. Must’ve been hungry from looking at the milk I was expressing. Hehe.

Ooh. My order for Milkmaid Tea has arrived. Idola, I will email you once my orders are in my hand. I have yet to pick them up :)

Today will be a busy day! I have to pick up my baju for Thursday, buy few things for Thursday and if I have time, pop by the salon to do some maintenance work. Haha.

*random* I tried to go on a diet and my supply depleted. Have to tell myself not to be selfish.

p.s. head to my brother’s blog if you wish to see Baby AH’s latest photos :)

p.p.s. husband, i want nice photos to scrap, pleaseeeeeee :)

Thank You!

Letter to Mama Ren

March 10, 2008 at 10:15 pm | In baby AH | 2 Comments

Dear Mama Ren,

Why haven’t you been blogging? I miss reading your blog. Mummy’s blog has been about my milk and I refuse to read it because it makes me hungry. Because you haven’t been blogging, I read Bapa’s blog only.

p1030265r.jpg

See. Mummy said I can’t read Amit’s blog because he selalu capi-capi. Muda Diya hasn’t been updating her blog as well, so I can’t read that too.

So, Mama Ren, please update your blog. Mummy has now updated her blog with my letter to you.

Love,

Baby AH

p.s. Mummy said she’s too busy at the moment to update. Busy doing what? Taking care of me, lah. Hehe.
