Look!

I finally went to MPC to get it yesterday. I have not have time to play with it yet. Plus I need to get a voltage converter, which I initially wanted to get it off ebay but then the husband said we will get it from Hua Ho on Friday. Semua jua kan ku ebay ah. Hehehe. But this is my first purchase off ebay and to be honest, I was a tad bit worried I wouldn’t get it.

The seller shipped it off on 31st March and it arrived at MPC on 21st (because that was the date stamped on the yellow card). I don’t know when it arrived at home but when I arrived on 27th, the card was already there.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Somehow, the MPC managed to ‘misplace’ my box and kept on saying that someone might have taken it for me. I had to wait for a good 30 minutes for it. They tried to send me home (twice!) but I stood my ground and said they better look for it. Dangki kali ah meliat semua orang dapat their parcels, I wasn’t going to leave empty-handed! Hehe. I also said it was urgent. Oh, they also made me go through their register just in case I knew someone in there who might have taken my box already (majal kan? hehe).

Anyhoos, I am glad I have received it and am really looking forward to use it! :)

On Baby AH’s front, we think he has started teething. He has excessive saliva, not only puts things in his mouth (which he likes to do since forever!) but is biting really hard during nursing, especially towards the end. He is also a bit fussy, especially during sleeping and napping times and is not really feeding :(

Suffice to say, mummy didn’t get a lot of sleep last night.

If he is really teething, my little boy is growin up *sob*sob*.

Oh, I’m thinking of starting to wean him soon too. Perhaps next weekend when he is 51/2 months. That gives me a week to spend time, eating, with him. I would love to give him his first solids when he turns 6 months but I think I rather witness his first solids. Har har har. Will get clearance from the doctor next week just for my peace of mind :)

I hope you all are doing great. I know my posts have mostly been rushed. I have a lot to ask and share with you all. Insya Allah, will try to do those posts soon.

Back & Knackered!

April 27, 2008 at 1:56 pm | In babyme | 2 Comments

I’m back!

I have yet to unpack my suitcase, although my BMs are now in the fridge.

I expressed about 40oz a day whilst I was in Seoul for 6 days. When Room Service came to send my frozen EBMs before checking out- it was in a huge container! Will post up the picture soon. I could only bring back half as I couldn’t fit in all of them in my 9l cooler box! I already had 2 techni ice sheets (luckily, as I couldn’t find dry ice there although the hotel tried to assist me). All of them thawed, which means I need to feed Baby AH those milk this week and freeze any BMs I shall express this week.

Incheon and Changi Airport didn’t even bat an eyelash when I had to bring in my EBMs, which I expressed yesterday morning and evening.

So many experiences to share but I will save that for another post.

The husband has unlocked the suitcases- time to unpack. *sigh*.

Can’t Wait

April 26, 2008 at 10:36 am | In babyme | 1 Comment

The program ended last night with a quick city tour and a dinner at an Italian Restaurant at the foot of Namsan. Went to Dongdaemun at 11pm and didn’t get back till amost 2am.

I am now glad that we’re heading home today, can’t wait to see baby AH, of course!

C, you asked what I got that I shouldn’t have, right? Hehe. I got what I mentioned at work before. The one I wanted for my birthday. Hehe. Finally got it when I was in Singapore on the way here, last week.

I’m knackered but yes, I can’t wait to go back.

I’m having problems trying to get dry ice :( but I brought with me 2 sheets of techni ice for my cooler box. I hope that will be enough. There was a miscommunication with Singapore Airline as well and I am now deeply upset. I hate language barrier!

Now, I am going to pray and hope for the best- Ameen!

…or something like that. hehe.

greetings from seoul.

it has been a tiring day with me and few other participants falling asleep during the presentations (yes, i have to add other participants too so my boss doesn’t think i’m lazy. lol.). we finished with a dinner on the top floor of this hotel. the rep from BOK was kind enough to sit next to me to make sure that the food that was being served to me was the correct one as were of ‘no meat, no meat derivatives, no alcohol and no alcohol derivatives’.

but what impressed me more was that BOK’s main building has a nursing room complete with an electric pump, freezer/ fridge, steriliser, bottle & pump cleaning things, a big sink, comfy sofas and to top it off, a good view of the buildings around them. haha! obviously, the staff had to bring in their own bottles and what not to connect to the pump.

but seriously i was impressed! no wonder they kept on asking me, ‘do you really need to go back to the seminar room to take your things?’ and there i was thinking, ‘how the hell are you expecting me to express?’ har har har. rupanya! hmm, maybe the offices in brunei should do this. hehe. starting from MOH. sponsor an electric breast pump to be used in the office.

you are encouraging breastfeeding AND it will cut the expressing time! :D

pictures of the nursing room and many, many other pictures will be updated when i have the time. either here or on facebook. hehe. (oh, i did something naughty and bought something i shouldn’t have but have been longing to. har har.)

i’m off to bed before another loooong day tomorrow, ending with another dinner to some place an hour from the hotel. erk.

p.s. will reply comments another time ya.

Bags are packed again…

April 19, 2008 at 5:00 am | In breastfeeding, travelling | 2 Comments

…and more importantly, my EBMs are packed, divided by days!

Alhamdullilah, my EBMs should be enough. I have prepared 12 x 4ozs per day for 9 days (today till next Sunday), assuming baby AH needs to feed every 2 hours. I have also left an extra 20 x 4ozs, just incase.

I have defrosted the EBMs for today and Sunday’s feeds.

I have bought my Cooler box, techni ice sheets and arranged with SIA to transport my EBMs back from Seoul next week. I hope everything will be alright- ameen!

Will try to blog when I get there, insya Allah :)

I’m back

…and knackered to he bone.

I have to unpack, do my laundry tonight and pack again tomorrow.

Idola, I didn’t sampai bali the playtex liner but might ask my brother to get me- will let you know.

I managed to get Milkmaid tea (i think it was for Adam’s mum). Let me know how to contact you. If sampat, I will pass it to you tomorrow. Otherwise it will be next, next week.

Little one kena rashes as his mummy was being naughty and ate some prawns during one of the work dinners. I hope no one comes up to me and say- ‘iatah payahnya tu if nyusukan dada. kalau formula, nda papa tu’. If someone does, I might just have a good comeback for that.

I’m going to spend some time with the little one. Bought him his first car and it’s a pain to put it together! Haha.

Baby AH’s First Plane Ride

April 14, 2008 at 6:39 am | In babyme | 2 Comments

*I just realised I didn’t publish the whole post. The other half of this post is missing!*

Rest assure (RBA- not you Jat ah! hehe), I will complete writing out this post when I have the time. I just hope I will still be miffed (to put it politely) and rant on how their ‘miscommunication’ was a LAME excuse and their service plainly sucked.

It was Baby AH’s first plane ride today :)

We’re in KL till Thursday as I have to attend a seminar while Baby AH will be looked after by his Nini Babu. Alhamdullilah, Baby AH wasn’t really fussy on the plane. Fed him on take off and landing until he was too full! He even had a good nap whilst we had our lunch.

However, he had to nap on my lap because our local airline- Royal Brunei Airline didn’t get us our front row with bassinette!

Urgh. If I remember what we had to go through during check in, I get fired up and just couldn’t believe it!

I bought Baby AH’s ticket last weekend at a travel agent in Manggis Mall and had them book front row seat with bassinette for me. On Tuesday morning, I called RBA’s reservation line and was on hold forever- 10-15 mins, I think before I decided to call their ticketing online. After being transferred twice, I was finally answered by a lady called Siti (I don’t know if this is her real name or not because I just realised that most ladies I talk to on any customer service calls are called Siti!) who told me that she was engaged and asked me to call their reservation line.

I explained to her that I called that line previously and was put on hold for a long time and have then be transfrerred twice on this line and she was telling me she was engaged and I had to call another line???? (I thought she shouldn’t have answered my call if she was engaged anyways!). Nevertheless, she said she would call me back and asked for my number.

When she called, she said that my travel agent had booked for me front row seat with bassinette for my baby. I insisted that I needed this for both trips. She then said that she has reserved for me, however, I have to come early as if there are many babies on board, it will be based on first come first serve basis

How do you put a baby on a diet?

April 8, 2008 at 6:52 am | In baby AH, breastfeeding, development, feeding | 6 Comments

Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of comments on how heavy Baby AH is or he could be overweight.

It then made me wonder- how do one put their baby on a diet, especially if he is not on solids yet and is in full breastmilk?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not going to put Baby AH on a diet. Although, Mummy needs to go on one. Haha.

So, assuming if the baby has not crawled or walk…

- if a baby is on formula, do you change their formula?

- if a baby is on solids, do you change the food that you give or reduce the amount of food that you give?

Baby AH’s 3 months (3 1/2 when he went) check he was 7.5kg. I have a strong feeling he is now more than 8kg (time to change the size of his pampers to L????). His last check-up the nurse didn’t make any comments about his weight though, so I’m guessing his weight is still okay.

But yeah, what if it wasn’t? What if a baby is overweight, what will they make you do?

I won’t be around for Baby AH’s next check up, which was initially next week but since he’s coming with me, we wanted to to take him this week. However, his Nini said better not as he will be travelling and he is up for his last DPT shot.

…which reminds me, I have to call the clinic and re-schedule before they come knocking on our door and accuse me of being an irresponsible mother. haha. kidding. but yes, they did knock on our door and asked why we missed Baby AH’s last appointment. (my fault! i forgot :p)

Bottle Washing Liquid

April 7, 2008 at 6:59 am | In baby products | 12 Comments

I’ve been meaning to post this since last week but kept on forgetting.

I was wondering which washing liquid are you using to wash your little one’s bottles. I have been using Farling Washing Liquid, which I could get from Triple Star (for about $7.80) or Emporiums (Pertama, FIrst Emporium for about $8.00++).

However, they all have seem to run out in the past 2 weeks!! Has it been recalled or they jus’t don’t have any stock lying around? Obviously the shops said that they are out of stock.

So, now, I have bought the Pigeon one and it is a lot expensive! About $14.00 from First Emporium. However, Supasave is selling it for $12.00 and they also have the smaller bottle, which I also bought to bring me later on.

So… which one are you guys using?

How I Packed my EBM

April 6, 2008 at 2:32 pm | In baby products, breastfeeding | 7 Comments

For awhile I have been trying to look for reasonably priced BM storage bags. In Brunei, I could only find either Lansinoh from Mothercare, which was retailing for about $20++ for a packet of 25 (I think!) or The First Years from Triple Star, which was retailing for about $17++ for a packet of 20 (again, I think!). All I remember, it was going to cost me almost $1 for each bag, in which I might be throwing away after a single use.

I then asked Mamalobs, which bag did she use cos I remember B Ajah mentioning that she had her EBMs stored nicely when she had to go on a business trip leaving Naqiyyah back in Brunei. She said I could use Glad’s Freezer bags, which you can get from most supermarkets for about $3.80 for a packet of 20 (about $0.19 each bag) .

I think I must’ve gone throught 5 packetes of those, when I found this

I actually read found it from ebay and started searching high and low on where I could get it. Found out that I could get from KL for about $25 for a packet of 125 (about $0.20 per packet). Had my brother picked it up for me when he came back the other day.

However, it didn’t come with a sealer but I remember readng from Lina’s blog that she tied hers with a rubber band, so that’s what I did, which you could get from any local supermarket for about $1.00 for a packet of 100.

This is what it looked like when it’s all packed up.

I notice that storing my EBMs using playtex bags takes up less space in the freezer

However, it is a little bit difficult for me to pour the milk from the bottle to the bags, initially but now, I think I have found a way to transfer without spilling it- you hold the lower part of the bag, pour 1/3, then hold the middle part and pour the whole thing. Also, make sure there’s no (or minimize) air in the bag (or any bag).

Besdies the storage bags, I also had my brother picked up for me the MMT. It costs around $40 for a bottle of 4oz. I’ve used up half of it in from about 6-7 drinks.

This is how it looked like inside. It is a mixture of natural herbs, including fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, red raspberry leaf, orange peel, nettle leaf, spearmint leaf, anise seed, caraway seed ad alfalfa leaf.

I apologise as it is not a clear picture. I have stopped drinking it because I am just too lazy to make tea! Haha. I think I am more of a capsule person- you dont have to make it and wait for it too cool down. Hehehe. So lazy, I tell you!

I am off to KL next weekend for work but I will be arriving there Sunday midday and might look out for some more of those bags and MMT (if anyone wants one only, lah. dont think am getting anymore for me. i’ll just stick with the fenugreek capsules. hehe.).

If anyone wants to try them, I can TRY to arrange to get it but I can’t promise as my free time will be run by Baby AH since he’s coming with me. Hehe. Leave me a message, if you do :)
