7 Months
June 27, 2008 at 9:27 pm | In baby AH, development, motherhood, scrappping | 5 CommentsAlhamdullilah, Baby AH turns 7 months today. However, he has picked up a temperature and a bit of sniffles and coughs.
This brought back my conversation with a cousin-in-law recently when she told me she panicked when her little girl fell sick, thinking that BF babies never get sick. Then I read a blog recently, where someone commented that ALL babies get sick to build their anti-bodies. FM babies, get sick relatively more, because they supposedly have less anti-bodies.
It’s all relative. Hehe.
Ooh, Baby AH is still tooth-less! After all the hoo-haa (by his mummy, of course!) thinking he was teething because he was fussy and using everything (and I mean EVERYTHING!) as a teether, we still can’t see any white buds!
Someone recently said to me not to be too iski about baby AH having his teeth, crawl and walk. LOL. Now that his ‘gusi mengarasi’, I am already wincing in pain when he feeds, imagine when there’s teeth!
Until today, the way baby AH ‘moved’, was by rolling & rolling. However, he managed to ‘crawl’ (more like beringsut! hehe.) backwards before hitting the table. Heehee.
He also tried to sit up when he woke up from his nap but only managed halfway before he decided to to just rollover (I bet he was thinking, lagi sanang!). No rush, my love! Although it seems like mummy wants you to do everything before realising (okay fine, before being reminded) that you’re only a baby and you will do everything, insya Allah, in time. (*whispers to baby AH* bapa has said no to baby walkers until you crawl! and i can’t possibly buy & hide it, can i? so i guess that has to wait. hehe.)
Baby AH is now one playful baby! He likes to play hide & seek, where I usually hide behind a book, magazine or the laptop and he tries to guess from which side I will ‘appear’. When baby AH’s feet are tickled, he will also giggle endlessly! He likes to call out to people, especially family members, now, especially his grandparents or mummy or bapa, to be carried. Hisfavourite ’saying’ now is ‘mamamamamamama’. I knew I should’ve insisted to be called mama when i read that babies’ first word tends to be ‘ma’. Hehehehe.
Oh, baby AH doesn’t like to eat brocolli! I guess what I was told-’to feed your baby food that will seem edible to you’- is right. Haha. When I tried to puree the brocolli, my face wrinkled at the thought of having to eat it. I will give asparagus this weekend, okay? I like asparagus, especially if it wrapped with salmon. Haha. I will insist on the veggies. Hehehe.
Anyhoos, Happy 7 months, Baby AH! This post is not only a list of what you are like when you’re 7 months old but also as a reminder to mummy when I finally get around to scrap your monthly photos! Hehehehe.
Love you!
Price Update!
June 24, 2008 at 6:47 am | In baby products | 1 CommentI forgot to include in the last post.
Soon Lee Batu Satu is having a promotion on their Huggies Ultra- $13.20 a pack! And they have plenty of sizes unlike Utama Grand, which would usually have only one size in stock- weirddddd!
Plus their drapolene cream was the cheapest I have found so far. $4.40, I think it was
Happy Nappy Changing!!!
Busy Bee
June 23, 2008 at 6:10 pm | In baby AH, family, feeding solids, scrappping, shopping, travelling | 4 CommentsWhen I looked back at my previous posts, I realised that I used to post more as compared to lately. I THINK I have been a busy bee. Har har har. Or perhaps a lazy bee (adakah bee lazy?).
In summary:
1) I started giving baby AH sweet potato with his porridge and he seems to like it. Now, have to wait for 3 days before I can introduce him a new food- perhaps brocolli or asparagus. I, initially, wanted to wait till he turns 7 months this weekend before introducing him other food but kasian jua liat his bland porridge atu.
2) I have been reading- more than I usually would. Actually, since I gave birth, I don’t think I have finished reading a single book, let alone 3 books in less than a month! I have now started reading Hotel Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones & Anonymous (again, I know! haha.) after finishing the rest of the Babylon series.
3) I have started scrapping my ultrasound pictures (about time, I know!).The bad thing about scrapping is once you start and have your.. ehem.. mojo.. hahaha… back, your scrapbook budget also takes a hit! If you can’t make it to Shabby, you turn to online scrapbook shopping!
4) …which brings to my next point- online shopping is E-V-I-L! Enough said. Haha.
5) I have also started stocking up my EBM for my July trip. Nothing crazy like my last trip- 120 packets! This time, I’m looking at 48 packets only. Yups, am still going for the every 2 hours feed strategy ‘just in case’.
6) Oh, overdue congrtulations to many, many first-time mummies on their first newborns! There’s Baby Ayden, Baby Ryan, Baby Sara & another Baby Sara. I wonder if Baby K has made his appearance yet
7) Also, congratulations to Mami Lina! Alhamdullilah, murah rezeki, Hafiy dah nak ada adek! *hugssss*
Then there are, insya Allah, more mummy-to-be(s) who got married last week and this week: Yani, Nani & Chee Ting- Congratulationssss Girlsssssss! Insya Allah, will try to pop by to your weddings/ reception this weekend.
9) And to answer a certain ‘professional’ photographer who said, ‘G-FeRrWHO?’… hop out to BIG’s website or grab a BIG magazine. It might answer your question. Eh, wait. You weren’t asking. You were calling names. My bad! Nevertheless, well done husband! I swear I thought the photo on the front cover was the Takaful building.
10) Anyhoos, to start off your week, here’s Baby AH wishing you all have a good week ahead!
Sigh.
June 15, 2008 at 10:08 pm | In baby AH, baby products, scrappping | 2 CommentsIt has been a looooong week.
To top it off, I’ve been having a bad migrane since yesterday. Woke up in the middle of the night feeling nauseous and threw up. Baby Ah chose the exact same time to wake up and cry.
Nevertheless, I finally met Baby Rayyan and Baby Aaqil on Friday and then Baby Irfan today! Although Baby AH only got to meet Baby Irfan but not Baby Rayyan and Baby Aaqil. Maybe next time, ya? Hehe.
I also managed to do some scrapping today. I think I did 6 8×8 LOs for Baby AH’s MM Animal Crackers Jack’s Album. Not all of them are complete yet as some still need some embellishments and journalling.
Oh, we finally bought food processor for Baby AH as I want to start him on something else other than plain bubur. I know, I know, I’m such a fickle mother. To give or not to give. Giving plain bubur just seems so easy but I’m worried that he’s getting bored plus I need to introduce him to other food, right? Its just that the dos and donts are driving me up the wall. Hehe.
I should be getting my first book on weaning tomorrow and I hope that will help me some more.
This is Baby AH

June 12, 2008 at 7:12 am | In breastfeeding | 9 CommentsJust a quick post before I head off to work.
Yesterday Idola texted me that MMT is not being sold in Singapore anymore, i.e. its sale has been banned. We’re not sure why. I tried googling (of course! haha!) but I have not come across any articles stating its ban.
Nevertheless, I THINK it’s because some of the ingredients if use excessively may cause asthma or breathing problems or any other problems for that matter (e.g. fenugreek can make your asthma worse) if used excessively and because you can get MMT over the counter, there is no control over it. This is just what I THINK. Tee-hee.
I will try to cari lagi over the weekend why it is being banned in Singapore. On this note, I guess, use MMT at your own risk? If you are seeing your doctor maybe you can for their opinion too.
I haven’t been taking MMT for awhile now because of just one reason- plain malas. Har har. I like the convenience of popping the fenugreek supplements that making a tea, waiting for it to seep and cool down was a little bit…emm… boring? haha… for the impatient me.
Anyhoos, insya Allah, I will try to google it up again. If any of you found anything, please do share
p.s. I will reply comments this weekend
It’s Thursday already! ERK.
Moving to REAL food.
June 7, 2008 at 5:50 pm | In baby AH, feeding solids | 11 CommentsAlhamdullilah. Baby AH seems to like his food more now.
Initially, there were challenges. Whilst Baby AH seemed to enjoy his food during his first meal, the next day and the day after, he spewed, turned away and shut his mouth tight! The husband said not to force him as I was bordering on frustration (biasalah mumnya dramatic sikit. har har.). On Thursday, we thought we should just straight away use blended rice as porridge. Result? He liked it! We fed him twice during the day and he still liked it!
I remember reading somewhere, to start with half a teaspoon first, so we did. Last night, I was feeding him and he was making a lot of noise as I took my own sweet time between each spoon! And when we had finished it, he was still screaming for more! Mummy cheated and just gave his sipper! Hahaha. Mau jua ya.
So, today, we used a teaspoon to make his porridge and apparently he finished it this morning too!
I am guessing he didn’t like the cereal because I mixed it with my EBM. He was probably thinking, ’sama jua rasanya dengan my milk. i want REAL food!’ hahahaha. His porridge, I mixed it with water instead of EBM.
Now, the husband and I are on a mission to find a food processor and food steamer for baby AH! Looks like he is getting his own kitchen! Haha. We saw BND50 ones from TS but then found a Kenwood food processor for the same price at Hua Ho! I actually wanted a real blender but it wouldn’t be very portable. Hmm.
I’m thinking what food should I introduce to baby AH next. Carrots or Banana? Maybe carrots since I used to hate carrots when I was a child. Don’t want Baby AH to hate carrot too now, do we.
Starting Baby AH on Solids
June 2, 2008 at 10:07 pm | In baby AH, breastfeeding | 5 CommentsBaby AH has shown interest in food for awhile now but I was pretty adamant on starting him on solids only when he turned 6 months. However, I was away when he turned 6 months and wanted to start weaning him prior to the trip but the husband said to just wait till we got back.
We arrived yesterday afternoon and the husband said to give it a few days before we start him on solids. However, we were a little bit under pressure to start weaning him so I contacted my personal doctor, who is available 24/7 for tips- dr. google! har har har.
Based on Dr Google’s advice, I have introduced baby AH to dry cereal, mixed with EBM today. I prepared a tablespoon of dry cereal with 60ml of EBM (the guideline is actually 50ml for every tablespoon) as I wanted it to be a little bit soup-y. Baby AH took it well, although there were times he was more interested in feeding himself or refusing to swallow it. I kept on trying and I think he managed to eat 5-6 spoons of it
As selfish I may sound, his source of food is no longer just my BM
Although he has to mix his dry cereal with my EBM. LOL. But I suppose, its only a matter of time before he starts eating bubur nasi, vegies and fruits without my BM. Sigh. My baby is growing up.
Nevertheless, Alhamdullilah, I have managed to bf him for 6 months now. Short-term goal achieved! Now, for my next goal, insya Allah.
On a different note, congratulations to the husband whose photo was published in one of worldbank’s reports
p.s. i know some of baby AH’s uncles & aunts are missing him. hehe. here is baby AH’s latest photo. I haven’t got around to process and upload the rest on facebook. hehe.
