End of Ramadhan

September 19, 2009 at 8:40 pm | In baby AH, pregnancy | Leave a Comment

The moon has not been sighted so Hari Raya in Brunei will fall on Monday, 21st September 2009.

A little part of me was hoping that the moon would be sighted. The past couple of days have been hard on me. My gastric paid a little visit and so did more headaches but knowing me, I refused to break my fast and tried to sleep it off. Evenings are sometime spent throwing up whatever I had for sungkai. So tonight, I am telling myself it’s just another day. Plus its a Sunday, so I can hopefully rest it off. I have no plans to join do anymore shopping but who knows :p

Besides looking forward to raya, I am actually looking forward towards my long leave more. Have planned a trip or two (haha) and since it has been awhile since I was last on the plane (May! No thanks to H1N1 and my boss refusing to send me anywhere due to me being preggers), I am definitely looking forward to eat and shop elsewhere. Yaayness! Am going to try to make full use of it since I will not be having any more leave until ML. Of course, I am also hoping I don’t get called back from leave (no chance of that though. asal saja kana ganti cuti ku. har har har.)

Hmm. On AH’s front, he is picking up more words but is also speaking German or Chinese, as we like to call it. His favourite word is still NDA. We have seem to noticed that he doesn’t like to be corrected or taught words and he would just speak whatever he wants (understandable or otherwise) when he feels like it. Apparently, my youngest brother was like this when he was a toddler too! It is funny though when he starts saying random words though ‘cos being a mummy, not only I would be feeling proud but sometimes wonder what other words he knows but refusing to say it infront of us!

Of course he is still as cheeky as ever, never failing to make us laugh with his cheeky smiles. He also likes to do housework! He will insist on helping even when we told him not to. He has mastered the art of switching on the dvd player, putting on the dvd and playing it! The only thing he has not mastered is switching the tv to AV mode. haha. Biartia dulu, we still want to have control over the tv :p

On the pregnancy front, we are still not so sure of the gender since we have been getting contradicting results/ predictions. Look like I am going to stick to buying neutral colours for now until we’re absolutely sure. Can’t really abuse the Brunei Grand Sale then. My GTT is on Thursday and I don’t know if that is a good idea or not. Haha. Just have to remind myself not to go overboard with raya goodies until after the test. Hoho.

I guess this is a lengthy post besides being all over the place. Will try to do a proper raya post soon. I have to clear my memory card and make sure camera batteries are full too. Oh, I’m also disappointed that my shipping has not yet arrived. It is in Singapore now, which means it would arrive in Brunei tomorrow but there will be no customs clearance till Wednesday. Booooooo.

Enjoy the last day of 1430 Ramadhan, dolls! If I don’t get to do a raya post in the next couple of days, I would like to wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir & Batin, especially if any of my writings have offended you before.

Till we meet again Ramadhan, insya Allah!

July already!

It definitely has been awhile since I last blogged, let alone a proper post. So many things have happened in the past couple of weeks!

If it has not been obvious (haha!), I am now 18 weeks preggers and is still nursing morning sickness, or more like all day sickness. It has been quite bad that I have been prescribed nauseous and gastric pills, or as I like to call it- my happy pills. There are of course times, when even taking those pills make no difference. My nurse told me that it should’ve subsided when I turned 15 weeks like it did when I was pregnant with AH but now, at 18 weeks, I still feel  nauseous and throws up at least twice a day.

Whilst my nurse reminded me through my medical notes that I, too, had morning sickness with AH, I did not have to be admitted to the hospital and neither was I on happy pills. I have also gone on medical leave more now (at 4 months), than I did when I was with preggers with AH for the whole 9 months. Oh, have I mentioned that I am still off chocolates and beef? Yes, still. Although not as bad with chocolates anymore but for beef, even the sight of it is enough to make me feel nauseous. Trips to McDs are spent eating chicken or Filet O Fish. How sad is that? No Double Cheeseburgers for me yet :(

Also, recently, a colleague was tested +ve for H1N1. I was sent to the screening centre as I had spent most of the day before with her and my condition meant that I did not have to wait for a temperature before going to the clinic. We had a meeting till almost 9pm and I sent her home too. Alhamdullilah, I was tested -ve a day after I tested but workwise, our whole unit was shut down as some had to be quarantined. I was worried sick prior to knowing the results as I was worried of infecting my son, IF I was tested +ve.

There have been many discussions, online and IRL, on how we should treat this virus. Many are worried but many, too, are nonchalant. Many said that it is just like a normal flu but as it has been told, it might be deadly to those with underlying chronic illnesses. This is where I put my foot down to those who seem to think that it is just a mild and we should not be worried about it. Say if you have it mild, you might infect someone who has an underlying illness. It might not kill you but it might kill others. So stop being selfish! Be responsible. My colleague hates going to the clinic or the hospital but when she had the flu, she thought she should just go to the clinic, especially since she is sitting next to a pregnant woman.

Besides that, I am still unsure where we as a country is heading on treating the virus. How long are going to try to contain this virus? Or are we going to mitigate it? I think last year we were still filling in forms and had our temp scanned at the airport, right? How long after the bird flu hoo-haa was this? (Do correct me if I am wrong though.) I wonder when will we be able to travel safely (relatively) again.

Enough of that. Hehe.

On AH front, he has been testing my patience a lot lately. He has been very manja and cries when things don’t go his way. Due to the virus, we have not been taking AH out a lot and I think this has ’stresses’ him out. Haha. He is such a social boy and he has probably been craving for activities. When we took him to my Nini’s doa selamat couple of nights ago, he chased his kakas around the house trying to play with them. He was also enjoying the attention he received from my cousins. Besides not being able to go out, my mum thinks he is just being manja because he knows he will have an adek soon. I like to think he is just a mini-me. Manja, whiny and a crybaby. LOL. Definitely takes well after me. Hahahaha.

I think this is a lenghty post already and should make up for my lack os posts lately. Haha. I need to rest now as one of my girlfriends is getting married this afternoon! Weeeeeeeeee! I know we will be in tears, like we always will.

I’m thinking of McD’s breakfast. Not so random because I can see McDs from my hotel room. Har har har.

I had my brother get me some curry sauce from Singapore McDs and he got me TWO packets of  it. Wel,, actually he got me a few but he said it burst on the plane or something like that. The two packets will be put into good use- 1 packet for McNuggets and 1 packet for Fillet o Fish. Nyums!

Whilst thinking of McDs is not random, this is probably a random post. There is actually so much to talk about but….

On AH, he is now 17 months! Oh my, he has grown so much. I wonder if I can last till 18 months without introducing him formula. Yes, I am looking at introducing him to FM at 18 months subject to my frozen EBM lasting that long. I suppose from that you can read between the line that my direct supply is not so great anymore that AH has shown a preference to feed directly from the bottle (am assuming because he can’t get much from me?). During our recent trip, I did not express at all and for this trip, I have only pumped once (9-10 0z in 48 hours!!!).  So yes, I am thinking of giving pumping a break and rely on my frozen EBM before going on FM, especially since I am still get pains when pumping (I think I have posted about this before?).

So that is my bf update in a nutshell. I am not very happy about it but I know it is time to go on a break. I am bit worried on how to introduce AH to FM though, he likes soy milk though, so I hope he takes FM alright. I did ask my doctor about giving AH just fresh milk or soy milk but she was not too keen about the idea. Adam’s mum did mention that if your toddler eats a well-balanced meal, fresh milk should be okay as he is getting all the necessary nutrition from his meals anyway. But after much discussion and deliberation, we might be taking the FM direction considering that AH at times may not want to eat (ikut moodnya tuuuu. of recent, he likes to eat nasi and sayur but not beef and ayam!).

Anyhoos, I’m going to go off for breakfast now! xx

Gone on Holiday

We are finally going on a proper holiday and it looks like it may be awhile until we have our next one too! It is AH’s first long flight too, which is why we have chosen a night flight and hope we can catch some snooze on the plane (okay fine, as my parents have said kami inda mau rugi ;) )

I know I have been posting frequently as of late but in the next week or so, depending on time and Internet access, I might post sporadically and if I do, it may be of photos or videos from our holiday for AH’s fans (*ehem*nininya*ehem*).

As of the password protected posts, those are private posts for me at the moment ;)

It has been awhile since I last posted on breastfeeding! Hehe.

Yes, I am still breastfeeding AH, if you’re wondering but I have to admit that I have been scouting for formula and asking family and friends on the kind of formula they use. However, I cannot bring myself to start supplementing AH yet! LOL. Yes, the mummy is the challenge.

For a few days last week, AH seemed to show a preference for bottled EBM over direct feeding. Once it was in the middle of the night and he kept on pointing out and refusing to direct feed. Being used to just feeding him in bed without having to get out and make (or reheat) milk, I continued to try and feed him directly. Again, he refused and instead, pointed to my water bottle. He was really thirsty!! He had a little bit of water then.

This went on the next day as well, when he kept on pointing his bottle warmer for a feed instead of asking to be direct fed. Mummy was too lazy to reheat and just sort of forced him to direct feed.

I know that were probably signs that he was ready to be weaned off my Bs and start feeding from bottles full-time but we’re going on a 10 days trip soon with a relatively long flight (by long I mean more than his past 2-3 hours trips). I guess you know where I am getting at. Har har har. I would have to pump all the time and feed him from bottles or bring formula, if I was going to supplement. Right now, I much prefer direct feeding- it’s more convenient!

So yes, no weaning off yet. We will try again nanti okay, AH!

I am going to leave you with a picture of AH to wish you a good start to the weekend! ;)

Har har har. No, social services & health advocates, I do not usually feed him chocolate excessively. This is him trying to finish my (already finished but not completely clean cup) B&J Choc Fudge Brownie Ice Cream!
Oh, to be young & without a care in the world! xx

Being a Garfield (fat & lazy)

January 12, 2009 at 10:35 pm | In baby AH, breastfeeding, sleeping | 2 Comments

I have been lazy.

The freezers are full with my frozen EBM and at last stock take (last week), some have even expired (or almost). Knowing that I have plenty, I have been a bit lazy. This morning I was too lazy to pump that my mid-morning I was dying to pump.  For the past few nights, I have been giving AH EBM and left him in his cot in our room. He has been a good boy and did not complain everytime I leave him in his cot to sleep. Once, he even asked my MIL to switch off the lights so he could go to sleep!

I am not pumping enough and neither am I direct feeding him enough. I need to clean up my act! Maybe it’s because Aunt Flo is here that I felt I deserve to rest for a bit. Alasan tah banar. Hehe.

Oh, which reminds me. Mid-cycle, I have been experiencing cramps (similar to uterus contractions after birth) when feeding or pumping. I have been getting these for the past 3 months, I think. I’ve been meaning to go an see a gynae or a tukang urut but have not gotten around to do it :S I read in a forum that this lady had it before but there were no explanations for it. So, I was wondering if any of you have had it before?

I’m off to bed now.  Niteeee!

Bye-Bye 2008, Hello 2009!

January 1, 2009 at 8:19 pm | In baby AH, shopping | 3 Comments

For the past few weeks, I have been trying to compile my resolutions list and when I heard HM’s speech for Ma’al Hijrah to not let resolutions just be resolutions, but to actually act on it, I realised I have to stop putting ‘losing weight’ as my number one resolution again.

So, my 2009 resolution is to be a better person (wife, mother, daughter, friend, colleague & staff) and to be more positive (including blocking out all sorts of negativities).

In place of a long resolutions list, I have, instead, put together a wishlist! Har har har. This will be easier to achieve, right? Especially since I received a text this morning that the bags on my wishlist will be purchased today by my purse fairy. Wuu-huu! And and, I have 1 bag in the shopping cart, ready to be checked out once I have truly decided. Heeeeee! All the daily monitoring of exchange rates on Bloomberg is going to pay off *grins*.

Here’s Mas AH wishing you a very Happy New Year 1430 & 2009 and sending plenty of love, peace, health and wealth your way!

Not long now.

Congratulations A & F on your engagement yesterday!

Nan, I will upload the pics on fb soon, kay! Hehehe. Here’s a preview. LOL. Actually, not so much a preview.

In my last post, there was a picture of the dowry book I made for A. However, the village elders suggested that it was better for the book to remain open and sort of standing, ’supaya diurang inda terkia-kial membuka’. With only few days to the day, we thought of using the frame stand thing until I found some styrofoam I’ve been hoarding! Hehe.

So, Nan, this is how it looked like after the alteration.

img_4498

But it was definitely prettier on the actual day when Ellez decorated the gangsa! There were even pearls on it! Will post up the pics on fb nanti. Hehe.

On a different note, here’s AH over the weekend. All happy when we took him out of his stroller and let him walk around a bit at the Mall. Hee-hee.

img_4539

I know I haven’t been writing proper posts and replying the comments. Insya Allah, will do that soon. I’ve been pretty busy and am now spending whatever time I have at home, entertaining AH and reading.

Have good week everyone! Not very long now till we welcome 2009. What is your resolution? Hehe.

Small Steps for AH

…giant leap for excited mummy!

img_4477

My not-so little boy has taken more than just a few steps! On Saturday night, he was holding a balloon and I suppose he must’ve thought he was holding on to someone’s hand! Since then, he is unstoppable! When he fell, he would stand up and continued walking! Aaah. he is growing up too fast!

I suppose I can say AH is taking after me (mau jua! LOL.) since he is only walking after turning 1. Hehe. Apparently I didn’t start walking until I was 1 plus whilst the husband started walking when he was 11 months old. No wonder he always say that I walk too slow. Guess now I have AH with me! Hee-hee! Until he starts running, I suppose! Eeeeks!

AH now knows where he wants to go and will drag anyone with him. He knows the way to his uncles and aunts’ room as well as his grandparents’ room.

The photo above was taken yesterday when he was playing outside in the afternoon. He must’ve had fun because he only woke up once last night, looking for us and crawled out of his cot by himself.

img_4444

Ooh. Over the weekend I have been busy making a dowry book for one of my girlfriends, who are getting engaged pretty soon. It is my first commissioned job and I am glad she likes it (although not the village elders but more on the content than the actually book, I think). And apparently, I am going to do another one for another girlfriend’s engagement in January! Jadikah Ellez? Hehehehehehe.

Anyhoos, Have a Good Week Y’all!!

p.s. Congratulations Len & Hil on your wedding yesterday. You both looked gorgeous!! (I didnt bring my digicam but I’m sure it will be uploaded on fb and I will need to get a copy of my mum’s digicam too. Hee-hee!)

And oh, the husband has uploaded some photos from his recent holiday (and my work trip. hahaha.). I’m too lazy to process my photos and upload them on fb for now.

Ah refused to sleep early last night and insisted on helping me pack (ish. haha. )

img_3834

After realising I was not packing any of his stuff, he thought that he didn’t really have to help.

img_3835

He got out of the suitcase and played before falling asleep on his playmat/ day mattress.

img_3836

Missing you little one! Will see you next week, insya Allah. *kisses*

We are here right now.

Pic from here

We went here earlier in the evening and I almost threw up and fainted from the not just the massive crowd but also the HUGE selection of IT-related stuff. Almost got sucked into buying an MP4 player, supposedly for AH to watch his Thomas & Friends but really its for me to catch up on m tv shows. Hee-hee.

Pic from here

I was also tempted to test the 450D but the crowd at the Canon booth was horrible with queues at least 300m (or even more? I couldn’t really tell because there were queues at every booth!) long. We then went to the next expo hall for a Mega Expo Sale. Bought a Snow Bear food and bottle warmer, which looked exactly like MC’s POD Bottle Warmer but at about 30% of their price. Now I have to think on how to bring it with me tomorrow. Erk!

I shall rest now as we are heading here tomorrow.

G’nite y’all and have a good Monday! xx
